Learn all about modern letterpress printing in a fun and creative environment.

Letterpress is an enigma. You see it everywhere - all the cool kids have letterpress business cards, letterpress wedding invitations and letterpress greeting cards. Letterpress projects appear all over design blogs making you want to reach into your computer screen and touch it. What’s so special about this printing process and how does it all work?

The aim of Saint Gertrude’s Letterpress classes in Melbourne is to do more than just give students a behind the curtain look at letterpress. These unique letterpress classes are a one-of-a-kind offering in Australia; throwing away the curtains to give ‘Access All Areas’ to the intriguing and beautiful world of letterpress printing.

Classes have been developed and will be taught by Saint Gertrude founder Amy Constable, one of Australia's original 'new' letterpress printers. Six years ago, Amy rescued and breathed life back into these two unique presses and since then, her letterpress work has been featured on countless blogs and magazines and was included in the prestigious Under Consideration 2013 FPO Awards. Amy's particular specialty is working daily within the challenging limitations of a manual printing press to produce work of the highest possible commercial quality and she is the only commercial letterpress printer in Australia who specialises in this manual process. Working humbly and steadfastly on her craft until now, in 2014 she flung open the doors to her letterpress world and share her infectious enthusiasm.
